.     The Bushfires that hit Wee Jasper in  January 2003 caused great loss in property and paddocks, (wool sheds, hay sheds)feed in paddocks and stock. But unlike Canberra, no houses were burnt. Apart from exhaustion and tiredness, no lives or houses were lost and we avoided serious injury. Many of the kids in Wee Jasper were evacuated to safer places like Tumut, Harden or Sydney.

It was the first week of the fire. It was the Wee Jasper fire Brigade Vs the flames and smoke.

On the second week of the fire the VRA ( volunteer rescue association) and SES came out to help to feed the fire fighters and everybody else who helped. We had about 80 fire trucks arrived from Yass, Canberra, Sydney, the Blue Mountains and all over New South Wales. We also had 7 helicopters, and among them were 2 sky cranes.
